Cal Horton

Cal L. Horton is a board certified security protection professional (“CPP”); a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (“ASIS”); a member of the Board of Directors of California Association of Licensed Agencies, Guards & Associates (“CALSAGA”) and a member of the Certification Board for the CALSAGA Private Patrol Operator Certification Program. Mr. Horton holds an individual Patrol Operator license (under License No. 14024 March, 2000).

Mr. Horton began his career with First Alarm Security & Patrol, Inc. in 1988 in a business development/general management position. Elevated to the position of President and CEO of one of the largest regional security companies in the bay area, Mr. Horton offers strong leadership and innovative business strategies toward the advancement of professionalism within the security industry, and the improvement of integrated security solutions to the Company’s diverse client base located throughout the entire state of California.

Mr. Horton has published numerous articles in trade publications regarding property security solutions and has written hundreds of operational security guidelines. He has an extensive background in public service, including law enforcement (Scotts Valley, California, Police Department) and emergency medical/ambulance services and emergency communications. He holds a degree in the Administration of Justice, is a graduate of Central Coast Police Academy at Gavilan College and holds a Basic P.O.S.T.Certificate as well as a current Emergency Medical Technician 1A (EMTͲ1A) certificate. Mr. Horton serves on the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) industry advisory committee and was instrumental in the development of compulsory security guard training legislation for both private and proprietary security guards in California. He currently serves on the BSIS Examination Review Committee as a subject matter expert.



Brendan Kelly

Brendan Kelly is a seasoned Security/Management Professional with an impressive track record of over 22 years and 70,000 hours of experience in Security Management. Holding previous roles as a Chief Security Officer (CSO) and Director of Corporate Operations and Compliance, he has demonstrated leadership and expertise in safeguarding organizations.

Brendan’s notable roles include serving as the Security Manager for major events such as Super Bowl 50 and the 2014 Academy Awards, showcasing his ability to handle high-profile security responsibilities. In addition, he has played a crucial role in supporting global operations for Executive Protection and Corporate Intelligence, directly overseeing the security of executives across Alphabet companies, including Google and YouTube. His responsibilities extend to supporting Global Security Intel Teams by providing threat assessments, managing escalations, and evaluating vendor intel services and social media platforms for risk assessment as well as Law Enforcement Liaison with multiple organizations. Beyond his professional achievements, Brendan has a strong background in extracurricular activities, having spent four years in AIR FORCE JROTC, achieving the rank of Cadet LtCol and serving as Group Commander. He is an active volunteer with Volunteer Sacramento, contributing over 3000 hours of documented service to the community.

Brendan holds several certifications, including Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Instructor, CCURE 9000 Systems Administrator, and Cal/OSHA Compliance Certified. He is also a scholarship recipient for the ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) program and serves as the President/Chapter Board Chair of ASIS International Sacramento, as well as a member of the SF Chapter. Additionally, he is a member of CALSAGA and actively contributes to the CALSAGA Training/Compliance Committee. In addition, Brendan is a curriculum writer and editor for eduguard.com, an online security certification website and on the advisory board for several of the top security industry software companies. He is also the founder of GuardGuru, a security and training resource directory, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field of security through education and innovation.
